Geneviève Giron, Born in Brittany Geneviève practiced dance and music from an early age. After pursuing studies in Literature, Arts and Philosophy she turned to professional dance training. Geneviève first went to Epsedanse, Montpellier and Centre James Carlès, Toulouse before moving to London and obtain a first-class BA (hons) from Trinity Laban in 2010. Whilst working as a dancer and choreographer in France and UK she developed a growing interest in the magic of theatre and progressively immersed herself in the darker side of lighting design and production management. Design works include collaborations with Figs in Wigs, Hagit Yakira (for which she also is production manager), Company Wayne McGregor (choreography by A.Topp), Andrew Rutland (Shunt Collective), Dirty Market, Tara D’Arquian, Gary Clarke, Marie-Gabrielle Rotie, Martin Nachbar, Matthias Sperling, Heidi Rustgaard and Theo Lowe. As a relighter Gene worked for Company Wayne McGregor, Tilted Productions, Rhiannon Faith (also production manager), Hagit Yakira, Edge, Jacky Lansley, H2Dance and Retina Dance. Although most of her recent activity was touring around the world Geneviève has also worked in venues such as Laban Theatre, Greenwich Dance, ICA, Theatre Delicatessen and Tate Modern. Gene currently covers a lighting designer position at Goldsmiths University which involves student guidance and teaching, as well as continuing to further her freelance design skills.
