Preferring to work in monochrome, using only natural light where possible, Rod Higginson’s images offer a powerful alternative view of his subject. His landscapes, street photography and scenes of rural life have a loyal following on social media and amongst the Leica community.

His current developmental work has led him into the rich dynamic world of contemporary dance and site-specific performance. His images of dancers and other performers capture a natural fluidity of movement, of spontaneity and grace in action. He seeks to convey the emotional as well as the physical elements of dance, and his naturalistic unforced approach results in images that convey the immediacy and truth of the individual’s performance. Recent work has been with directors Sarah Shorten, Stacked Wonky Dance, and Hagit Yakira, Hagit Yakira Dance.
